"Charlotte's been gone now for three months (as I write this in early February 2006), and it's still very hard for me to talk (or write) about her without tears running down my face. That she was beautiful you can see from her pictures (and besides, she was a cat; that is synonymous with beautiful, isn't it?). That she was precious to me you know because if you're reading this website, you have precious friends of the feline, canine or some other animal persuasion. That she was a cuddlebug and incredibly affectionate, you'll have to take my word for. And take my word for it also that she - and I - loved thunderstorms. We used to sit by the open window together (despite what my mother tried to teach me about lightning) and watch the rain fall and listen to the thunder. Charlotte's beautiful blue eyes followed every flash of lightning. I remember one summer night's storm in particular where the wind blew strongly and sent a spray of rain through the screen making both of us pretty damp. Charlotte shook her head a bit and licked her breast fur, but she never moved away from me and the open window. I loved her very much and I miss her greatly." |
